iPhone 3G[s]
Alright, let me explain what happened to it.
First up, it was jailbroken on 3.1.2.
Secondly, Apple stopped signing 3.1.2.
Thirdly, redsn0w.
Fourthly, my iPhone 3G[s] is week 42.
Oh, and fifthly, I have dial-up speeds.
Alright, let me explain.
Basically with the release of 3.1.3 I was eager to update, but I didn’t want to lose my update.
Now, I was on 3.1.2, and decided to turn my iPhone 3G[s] off, tethered jailbreak means loss of jailbreak.
So my iPhone was rendered useless, I booted up my MacBook Black and started redsn0w.
Followed the instructions through, but when I got to the screen for the choice of old bootrom or new bootrom, I actually selected old bootrom to try.
Wrong move.
What happened next killed my iPhone for two days.
It was stuck in a DFU loop and completely useless.
The fact that the only way to actually fix this was a proper restore with iTunes was a pain.
I downloaded the 3.1.2 ipsw thinking I could easily restore it. Wrong again.
With Apple stop signing 3.1.2 without me knowing, caused great frustration.
Basically I had to wait another painful 10 hours while iTunes slowly downloaded 3.1.3.
Now, my iPhone is at least working, without the jailbreak that is.
